Quality Assured Plastics, Inc. was incorporated in June 1986 and started production of plastic parts in November 1987, with 3 used molding machines ranging in size from 125 to 300 tons.  Due to capacity needs a new 300 ton Engel was added in December 1988 and a new 225 ton Engel in April of 1989.  In keeping with the statement of its name, QAP's first full year of production resulted in a 99.4% quality acceptance of its products.  At that time QAP was serving the Automotive, Recreational Vehicle, and Construction industries.

To widen its customer base and expand machine capacity, QAP purchased the assets of North Star Molding, Inc. located at 6611 West KL Avenue, Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1990.  This acquisition added approximately 50 customers to QAP's customer list and 9 machines to its production capacity; serving the Automotive, Appliance, Consumer, Housewares, Electrical, Infant, Medical, Office Furniture, and other miscellaneous industries.

As the demand for machine time increased from QAP's automotive customers,  2 more new Engel machines, a 150 ton and 250 ton, were put into production at the Lawrence facility in June of 1990.  three more new machines, a 150, 80, and 100 ton, were also put into production in Lawrence in August of 1990.  This brought the number of machines in Lawrence to 10 with the 9 machines in the Kalamazoo facility.

In early 1996 it was determined that some of the machines purchased in the North Star Molding acquisition were no longer capable of producing parts that met the standards of QAP.  After evaluation, 3 machines were sold, and 2 new Van Dorn machines were leased to replace them.  In December of 1996, 2 of the original used machines in the Lawrence facility were sold and replaced with 2 new Engel machines.  The total number of machines in production at QAP as of 4/1/97 was 18; 10 in Lawrence and 8 in Kalamazoo.

In March 2004, QAP received it's ISO 9001:2000 and continues our QS-9000:1998 certification.

By its dedication to producing quality products QAP has served its customers well and developed a reputation that is reflected in its name.  The list of industries served by QAP has remained relatively constant, even though some of the customer have been replaced by others.  During the past few years, QAP has developed a releatively stable customer base with enough non-automotive customers to reduce the drastic cycles experienced by suppliers who primarily serve the automotive industry.
